The Taliban’s deputy minister of industry and commerce on 5 August met and discussed with the European Union Chargée d’Affaires Veronika Boskovic Pohar the expansion of relations and trade ties with countries. In the meeting, the Taliban official asked for reactivation of Afghanistan’s representation to the World Trade Organization (WTO).In a statement, the Taliban’s ministry of industry and commerce said that discussions included European Union’s cooperation with “reactivation of Afghanistan’s representation to WTO” and provision of facilities for Afghanistan exports.The Taliban’s ministry announced that other issues, such as development of relations between the Taliban government and the international organizations, active participation of Afghanistan’s private sector in international expos and organization of international exhibitions were also discussed in the meeting.According to Taliban, the European diplomat pledged support to these areas.
