IEU-CEPA GRANTS ZERO TARIFFS TO SEVERAL EXPORT COMMODITIES
The Indonesian Ministry of Trade has announced that a wide range of Indonesian export products, including textiles, footwear, apparel, processed foods, and palm oil and its derivatives, will be subject to zero tariffs under the new Indonesia–European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA). Director General of International Trade Negotiations, Djatmiko Bris Witjaksono, stated that the agreement will eliminate tariffs on 98 percent of all tariff items, covering 99 percent of Indonesia's total export value to the EU. The IEU-CEPA is Indonesia's most comprehensive bilateral trade agreement and is expected to provide significant market access for key commodities. While most tariffs will be eliminated during the Entry Into Force (EIF) phase, some will be phased out over three to five years. The agreement's finalization was accelerated by a high-level political agreement between the Indonesian government and the European Commission, a major step forward for the strategic partnership between Indonesia and the EU.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/371041/ieu-cepa-grants-zero-tariffs-to-several-export-commodities?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_category (ICE GIACARTA)
