TURKMENISTAN CONSIDERS JOINING OECD TAX AGREEMENTS

Turkmenistan is studying the feasibility of joining the Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters and the Multilateral Competent Authority Agreement on Automatic Exchange of Financial Account Information — key documents of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The proposal was announced by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Hojamyrat Geldimyradov during an online Cabinet meeting.The deputy chairman reported on specific steps being taken to strengthen cooperation with international organizations. According to Geldimyradov, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, based on a decree of the head of state, has conducted a comprehensive analysis of the feasibility of joining several OECD agreements, Turkmenistan’s official media reported.After hearing the report, President Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of developing international partnerships and improving tax legislation. Approving the proposal, he instructed the deputy chairman to organize further work on Turkmenistan’s accession to the agreements. (ICE İSTANBUL)
