INDONESIA CONFIRMS TKDN REFORM WILL APPLY BROADLY, NOT JUST FOR U.S
The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is currently reforming its Domestic Component Level (TKDN) regulations, which will be formalized in a new Minister of Industry Regulation. Head of the Public Relations Bureau, Alexandra Arri Cahyani, stated that while the rules are being maintained, the reform aims to adjust them to current conditions and make the calculation process "easier, cheaper, and faster." The ministry has emphasized that this reform is not a reaction to any single country but is a comprehensive overhaul designed to apply generally to all nations. The reform comes amid a trade agreement between Indonesia and the United States, where the U.S. requested a waiver of TKDN requirements for its products. In response, Alexandra clarified that fixing the policy on just one country would be considered discriminatory. She also noted that TKDN is a crucial tool for protecting national industries and attracting domestic investment, and that the details of the new policy will be announced by the Minister of Industry once the drafting process is complete.
