INDONESIA’S OIL OUTPUT HITS BUDGET TARGET FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 2008

Indonesia's daily crude oil production has exceeded the government's target of 605,000 barrels per day (bpd) for the first time in 17 years, reaching 608,000 bpd. This was announced by Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia. While this isn't the cumulative annual figure, it marks a significant milestone and a reversal of a long-standing trend, as the country hasn't met its production target since 2008. The achievement is a positive sign for the country's oil industry, which has seen average production at around 578,000 bpd in the first half of the year before recently crossing the 600,000 bpd mark. The government, under President Prabowo Subianto, has an ambitious goal to reach 1 million bpd by 2030, a level not seen since the 1980s. To achieve this, the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry is implementing several initiatives, including reactivating mature oil wells, simplifying investment regulations for both domestic and foreign companies, speeding up new exploration, and legalizing small-scale oil operations. Despite the recent production increase, Indonesia still relies heavily on imports, as national consumption is approximately 1.6 million bpd.Source: https://jakartaglobe.id/business/indonesias-oil-output-hits-budget-target-for-first-time-since-2008 (ICE GIACARTA)
