INDONESIA PURSUES TRADE AGREEMENTS TO EXPAND MARKETS
The Indonesian government is accelerating the completion of several key free trade agreements to lower import duties and broaden export opportunities. At the Bisnis Indonesia Mid-year Challenges 2025 event, Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Secretary Susiwijono Moegiarso highlighted that concluded negotiations on the Indonesia–European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA) and the newly finalized Free Trade Agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will help reduce production costs and boost the global competitiveness of Indonesian goods. He also noted ongoing talks with the United States to cut import tariffs to 19 percent and Indonesia’s recent accession to BRICS as steps toward deeper integration into international markets. Looking ahead, the government aims to bring the IEU-CEPA into force in 2026 and is in the process of joining both the OECD and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). By adopting globally recognized standards and securing these agreements, Indonesia seeks to solidify its role in global supply chains, enhance national product credibility, and sustainably expand market access worldwide.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/369757/indonesia-pursues-trade-agreements-to-expand-markets (ICE GIACARTA)
