The GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2025 opened in Tangerang on July 24, spotlighting electric vehicles (EVs), smart mobility, and future automotive technologies. Featuring over 60 global brands and more than 40 newly launched models, this year’s show reinforces Indonesia’s emergence as a key automotive market and regional manufacturing hub. Indonesia's Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita encouraged companies to invest in and strengthen the local EV ecosystem. The event saw record participation from 39 passenger car brands, four commercial vehicle makers, and 16 motorcycle manufacturers. Chinese EV players—including BYD, Chery, GAC Aion, and Jetour—dominated the spotlight with advanced battery innovations, signaling intensifying competition with Japanese automakers. VinFast from Vietnam introduced its VF 7 electric SUV in two variants.
