INDONESIA SECURES US$1.3 BLN IN GREEN ENERGY INVESTMENT,US$6 BLN IN THE PIPELINE

Indonesia has secured US$1.3 billion in renewable energy investments through the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP), with an additional US$6 billion expected. The funding includes US$200 million in grants and project financing and US$900 million in broader support, targeting both public and private sector initiatives. Key projects include the Saguling solar power plant, supported by Germany, France, and Standard Chartered, a Japanese-backed geothermal energy initiative, and Germany's €300 million investment in Sulawesi's transmission infrastructure. JETP officials emphasized continued opportunities for concessional and commercial financing, with China identified as a potential future partner due to strong bilateral ties. Despite past shifts in U.S. climate policy, Washington’s financial commitments to Indonesia under JETP remain active, including a US$2 billion pledge featuring US$1 billion in World Bank loan guarantees. The agreement, signed prior to the U.S. withdrawal from the Paris Accord, retains legal validity and is supported by institutions like the Development Finance Corporation. Launched at the G20 Bali Summit in November 2022, JETP brings together Indonesia and the International Partners Group—comprising the U.S., Japan, EU, and others—to mobilize climate finance and advance low-carbon infrastructure such as solar, geothermal, and transmission networks.Source: https://indonesiabusinesspost.com/4842/markets-and-finance/ri-secures-1-3-b-in-green-energy-investment-via-jetp-6-b-in-the-pipeline  (ICE GIACARTA)
