Kazakhstan to expand aircraft fleet to 221 by 2031 - Transport MinistryKazakhstan plans to increase its aircraft fleet to 221 planes by 2030, Transport Minister Nurlan Sauranbayev announced during a meeting with Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov when discussing development of the aviation industry.According to the government press service, Sauranbayev reported that Kazakhstan’s fleet will grow by 16 aircraft this year, six of which have already been acquired. By the end of 2030, the total number of aircraft is expected to reach 221.Since the beginning of 2025, Kazakh airlines have carried 7.2 million passengers, a 6% increase compared to the same period last year. Airports in the country have served 14.4 million passengers, the minister said.Since 2020, Kazakhstan has repaired and upgraded 20 runways and 19 terminals, with a new airport was built in Turkistan.Saurambayev stated that around $2.9 billion will be invested in the aviation sector through various investment programs. These funds will be allocated to major projects, including the construction of new airports in tourist areas such as Katon-Karagay, Zaysan, Kenderli and the city of Arkalyk, as well as the renovation of 10 runways, 10 terminals, and the modernization of specialized ground equipment.
