FRUIT AND VEGETABLE EXPORTS REACH OVER $3.8 BILLION IN SEVEN MONTHS
HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s fruit and vegetable exports rebounded in the first seven months of 2025, reaching over US$3.8 billion, recovering from a sharp early-year decline. July exports alone were estimated at $731.4 million, up 33% year-on-year, narrowing the year-to-date decline to just 2.2%, down from nearly 30% earlier in the year. Key growth products included durian, coconut, processed mango, and passion fruit. Coconut prices surged to $7.26/kg in 2025 from $1.21/kg in 2022 due to rising global demand. While China remained the largest importer, accounting for 52.6%, its purchases declined 65% year-on-year. Meanwhile, the US became the fastest-growing market, up 166%, making up 8.4% of total exports. Imports of fruits and vegetables also rose, reaching $1.43 billion, up 17% year-on-year. Industry experts at a recent HCM City conference identified banana and passion fruit as future export growth drivers, especially for processed products targeting high-value markets. — VNS (ICE HO CHI MINH CITY)
