INDONESIA TARGETS INDUSTRIAL EMISSIONS CUTS ACROSS 9 SECTORS IN DECARBONIZATION

Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry is accelerating its decarbonization agenda by developing a roadmap for nine high-emission industrial sectors: cement, fertilizer, metal, pulp and paper, textiles, chemicals, automotive, food and beverage, and glass and ceramics. The goal is to achieve net-zero emissions in the industrial sector by 2050—ten years ahead of the national target. The roadmap will include technical guidance, policy support, funding strategies, and cross-sector collaboration, with input from industry associations, academics, and international institutions to ensure realistic and impactful outcomes. To support this transition, the Ministry is organizing the 2nd Annual Indonesia Green Industry Summit (AIGIS) in August 2025, which will serve as a platform for policy integration, innovation, and stakeholder engagement. A key initiative to be launched is the Green Industry Service Company (GISCO), designed to connect industries with low-carbon technologies and green financing. The Ministry is also expanding outreach through the AIGIS Goes to Campus program, partnering with universities to foster innovation and sustainability literacy among the younger generation—positioning them as future drivers of Indonesia’s green industrial transformation.Source: https://industri.kontan.co.id/news/ini-9-sektor-industri-yang-jadi-prioritas-di-roadmap-dekarbonisasi-kemenperin (ICE GIACARTA)
