Kazakhstan boosts agricultural exports to China by 35% in firtst five monthsKazakhstan increased its agricultural exports to China by 35% year-on-year to $513.4 million in the first five months of 2025, following a 4% annual growth to $1.1 billion in 2024, the country's agriculture ministry reported Tuesday.The data was released following a meeting between Kazakh Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov and Chinese Ambassador to Kazakhstan Han Chunlin. Feed crops, vegetable oils and wheat accounted for the bulk of exports, according to the ministry.Bilateral agricultural trade rose 10% to $1.4 billion in 2024, with a 36% increase to $736.9 million recorded in January-May 2025. "The growth reflects balanced and mutually beneficial agricultural trade, with both Kazakh exports to China and Chinese imports to Kazakhstan expanding," the ministry said in a statement.Saparov emphasized the need to finalize updated protocols for beef, mutton and byproduct exports. He proposed conducting inspections of Kazakh poultry farms in August 2025 to ensure compliance with Chinese standards.The minister noted that Kazakhstan and China's General Customs Administration agreed in May to conduct joint inspections of beet pulp producers and survey the Aktobe, Karaganda, East Kazakhstan and Abai regions to expand wheat and barley exports.The talks also focused on investment cooperation, with four major Chinese-funded agricultural projects worth $2.8 billion currently underway in Kazakhstan.
