National Bank of Kazakhstan to maintain moderately astringent monetary policyThe National Bank of Kazakhstan has reaffirmed its commitment to a moderately astringent monetary policy (MP), the central bank's press service reported.According to the press service, a meeting of Kazakhstan's Economic Policy Council was held on Monday, where National Bank CEO Timur Suleimenov and Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov discussed improving the coordination of anti-inflation measures to ensure macroeconomic stability."National Bank CEO Timur Suleimenov stated that achieving the 5% inflation target remains the key priority for macroeconomic policy. To stabilize inflation expectations and form a sustainable trend of declining inflation, the National Bank will continue to maintain a moderate astringent monetary conditions," the press release stated.During the Economic Policy Council meeting, it was emphasized that achieving the target inflation level requires coordinated and consistent measures from all relevant bodies. "In this regard, special attention needs to be paid to strengthening the information policy aimed at boosting public and business confidence, reducing inflation expectations, and increasing the effectiveness of ongoing reforms," the statement said.Following the meeting, the council members confirmed their readiness to implement the necessary joint measures, including adopting an updated package to control and reduce inflation in 2025-2026 through a separate government resolution."The joint efforts of the National Bank and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan will be aimed at ensuring price and macroeconomic stability," the information stated.
