INDONESIA TO SECURE US$100 BLN INVESTMENT FOR DOWNSTREAM PROJECTS BY NOV 2025
Indonesia is set to receive a landmark US$100 billion investment in November 2025 to accelerate its downstream industrialization, particularly in nickel processing, battery cell production, and electric vehicles. Indonesiaàs Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, emphasized that this initiative—supported by partners from China and Korea—is part of a broader strategy to achieve energy self-sufficiency and reduce reliance on raw material exports. The move builds on Indonesia’s success in developing a US$20 billion EV battery ecosystem, now ranking second globally after China. The Minister stressed that downstreaming must become the backbone of Indonesia’s economic development, transforming raw materials into high-value products domestically. The government also aims to reactivate idle oil and gas wells, expand gas infrastructure, and boost renewable energy innovation to support the national energy transition.Source: https://industri.kontan.co.id/news/bahlil-sebut-investasi-us-100-miliar-siap-masuk-proyek-hilirisasi-pada-november-2025 (ICE GIACARTA)
