Kazakhstan government updates anti-inflation action plan until 2026Kazakhstan’s Economic Policy Council has reviewed measures to curb inflation, with an updated action plan set for approval by the government, the prime minister’s press service announced Monday."To restrain price growth, the government, together with the National Bank and local executive bodies, is implementing systematic measures. The National Bank was actively involved in the updating of an anti-inflation action plan, which sets forth short- and long-terms measure to control and reduce inflation. The document is in its final review stage and will be adopted by the government in a separate resolution," the press service said in a statement following a meeting of the Economic Policy Council.Key focus areas include boosting domestic production, improving tariff policy predictability, stabilizing prices of essential goods, and lowering inflation expectations."The implemented measures helped reduce inflationary pressure by 4.16 percentage points in 2023, and by 2.3 percentage points in 2024. The updated plan has now been extended through 2026," the statement says.The government continues to support local production, increase domestic market supply and control caps on retail markups.The Ministry of National Economy reported that since the beginning of this year as many as 1,847 administrative penalties have been issued for exceeding the 15% maximum trade markup, with fines replacing prior warnings.Additional efforts target preventing unjustified hikes in regulated utility tariffs, which have contributed 0.5 percentage points to inflation this year, according to government data.Annual inflation reached 11.8% in June 2025. Earlier this month, the ministry projected year-end inflation at 10-11% for 2025 and 8-10% for 2026.In a related move, the government has postponed planned utility tariff increases to help slow inflation.
