BALI LAUNCHES ELECTRICITY ROADMAP TOWARD NET ZERO EMISSION BY 2045
Bali officially launched its Electricity Roadmap Toward Net Zero Emission (NZE) 2045 on July 15, 2025, signifying a bold push for clean energy transition and regional energy independence. The roadmap, developed through collaboration between the Bali Provincial Administration, Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR), and the Bali NZE Coalition, was presented at a high-level forum attended by key stakeholders from government, academia, and industry. As explained by Ida Bagus Ari Chandana, the roadmap offers technical and economic direction for decarbonizing Bali’s power sector, promoting cross-sector collaboration, and attracting investment to accelerate clean energy deployment and meet sustainability goals. Fabby Tumiwa, Executive Director of IESR, emphasized Bali’s capacity to become the first Indonesian province fully powered by renewable energy, highlighting its 21 GW solar potential—far exceeding current demand. He urged local and central governments to integrate clean energy into development plans, empower PLN to lead as a national clean energy lab, and enact consistent, supportive policies. Fabby underscored that Bali’s success could set a precedent for the rest of Indonesia, making the roadmap not just a local strategy, but a national beacon for energy transition and climate action.Source: https://indonesiabusinesspost.com/4752/policy-and-governance/bali-launches-electricity-roadmap-toward-net-zero-emission-by-2045 (ICE GIACARTA)
