ACCELERATED OIL & GAS DOWNSTREAMING SET TO IGNITE PETROCHEMICAL GROWTH IN INDO
Indonesia's Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming, Todotua Pasaribu, emphasized the need to fast-track downstreaming in Indonesia’s oil and gas sector to propel its entry into the petrochemical industry, citing its strategic importance beyond energy security. He highlighted ammonia and its derivatives, such as methanol, as key gas-based materials foundational to sectors like fertilizer production. To enhance competitiveness, Pasaribu urged for strategic investments in downstream projects capable of producing value-added petrochemical products. He also reported that Indonesia’s second-quarter investment realization reached Rp475 trillion (US$29.1 billion), outpacing the first quarter, and expressed optimism for continued growth despite global uncertainties. Supporting this momentum, Pertamina’s President Director Simon Mantiri introduced 19 investment-ready projects totaling US$9.25 billion, aimed at energy security, low-carbon initiatives, and new technologies—underscoring the vital role of public-private cooperation in driving the nation’s energy and industrial transformation.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/366909/fast-tracking-oil-gas-downstreaming-to-spur-petrochemical-expansion (ICE GIACARTA)
