Kazakhstan imposes three-month ban on gypsum board imports from July 22Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and Construction has announced a three-month ban on the import of gypsum board, effective July 22, 2025, according to an order signed by Minister Yersaiyn Nagaspayev."To impose a three-month ban on the import of gypsum board (Code 6809110000 in the register of goods of the Eurasian Economic Union’s, including plates, sheets, panels and similar products made of plain gypsum and covered or reinforced with paper or cardboard) into the Republic of Kazakhstan from third countries by all means of transport," the order says.The move follows earlier reports of Kazakhstan’s plans to temporarily halt imports of gypsum board and stone products for three months.According to the Ministry of Trade and Industry, in 2024 the republic produced 35.5 million square meters of gypsum board, while demand stood at 38.8 million square meters. The country’s total production capacity is estimated at 46 million square meters a year. (ICE ALMATY)
