INDONESIA - EU READY TO INK TRADE PACT IN SEPTEMBER

Indonesia and the European Union are poised to formalize the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA) in September 2025, marking a major milestone in their bilateral relations. Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani confirmed the planned signing and rapid ratification of the pact, which is expected to double the value of Indonesia-EU trade from US$30 billion to US$60 billion. In 2024, bilateral trade totaled US$30.1 billion, with Indonesian exports contributing US$17.5 billion. The agreement will pave the way for expanded market access and deepen economic cooperation with a combined population of 700 million, reflecting the growing significance of Indonesia-EU investment ties. The agreement’s conclusion follows a decade of negotiations and was announced during President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to Brussels, where he met European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa. The IEU-CEPA, hailed as a breakthrough and a comprehensive free trade pact, underscores both sides' long-term commitment. Following the Brussels meeting, Roeslani will accompany Prabowo to Paris for further engagements with French and UK business leaders, facilitated by Indonesian Chamber of Commerce head Anindya Bakrie, further signaling Indonesia’s intent to strengthen strategic economic relationships across Europe.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/366233/indonesia-eu-ready-to-ink-trade-pact-in-sep-minister?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_category (ICE GIACARTA)
