Household gasification rate in Kazakhstan exceeds 60% - QazaqGazKazakhstan’s national gasification level has reached 62.4%, QazaqGaz CEO Sanzhar Zharkeshov reported to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Monday.According to the presidential press service, Tokayev met with Zharkeshov, who briefed the president on the company’s performance."The president was informed that the national gasification level has today reached 62.4%. Over the past three years, more than 1.7 million people have gained access to domestic gas supply services," the press service said in a statement following the meeting.Zharkeshov also informed the president about the completion of the Taldykorgan-Usharal gas pipeline, which will supply gas to 66 villages in the Zhetysu region. Construction has also begun on the second line of the Beineu-Bozoi-Shymkent gas pipeline, as well as a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) transshipment and fractionation plant at the Kashagan field. Additionally, a $1.35 billion urea plant project, involving Turkish investor ESTA, is underway.Among key developments, Zharkeshov highlighted the increased transit of Russian gas through Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan. He also updated the president on the ongoing major overhaul of the Central Asia-Center gas pipeline, which is expected to bolster Kazakhstan’s role as a regional energy hub.To expand the country’s gas resource base, several agreements have been signed, including subsoil use contracts for the Akkuduk and Severny-2 fields, as well as a deal with CNPC for joint exploration at the Severny-1 field.Kazakhstan’s gas sector is also adopting digital innovations, such as a supercomputer powered by the latest NVIDIA graphics chips, according to Zharkeshov.Before concluding the meeting, Tokayev issued directives to make necessary preparations for the upcoming heating season and to continue developing Kazakhstan’s gas infrastructure.
