INDONESIA FINALIZES USD 34 BILLION TRADE DEAL WITH US AMID TARIFF DISPUTE

Indonesia has secured a USD 34 billion commercial deal with the United States, focusing on energy and agriculture, including a major USD 15.5 billion fuel import agreement. Announced at a bilateral business forum, the pact emphasizes job creation, MSME support, and technological collaboration. Despite this positive momentum, tensions have emerged over a planned 32% U.S. tariff on Indonesian exports, which may be lifted if Indonesian firms relocate production to the U.S. In response, Jakarta is weighing outbound investment strategies, particularly in the U.S. oil and gas sector, while Coordinating Minister Airlangga Hartarto is leading high-level negotiations in Washington to seek tariff relief. The talks aim to underscore Indonesia’s value as a strategic trade partner with abundant resources, such as nickel, tin, copper, and palm oil, ahead of the August 1 tariff deadline.Source: https://business-indonesia.org/news/indonesia-finalizes-usd-34-billion-trade-deal-with-us-amid-tariff-dispute  (ICE GIACARTA)
