KAZAKHSTAN-PRESIDENT-WATER-SUPPLY

Kazakh President prioritizes access to clean drinking water for all citizensKazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has called for efficient use of drinking water, calling nationwide access to clean water a top priority."Today, most residents in both cities and villages have access to clean drinking water. However, one of our key tasks is to supply water to around 500 more villages. Solving the issue of water purification is especially crucial," Tokayev said during a meeting with water management specialists in Astana on Wednesday."As the saying goes, “Even water has its price”, for people have always understood the value of every drop of water. Responsible water use remains a pressing issue," he added. The president noted that while Kazakhstan is a vast country, much of its land consists of deserts and semi-deserts."It would not be an exaggeration to say that water resources are a matter of national security and remain a key focus for the state. In my 2023 address to the nation, I specifically highlighted the importance of water saving efforts. We created a Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, implemented major reforms, adopted a new Water Code, and launched large-scale infrastructure projects," Tokayev said.Significant funding, including foreign investment, has been allocated to build and modernize water facilities, he added. The president also acknowledged the efforts of nearly 30,000 professionals working in the water industry who ensure water supply to urban and rural areas, industrial facilities, and agricultural fields.
