At the third meeting of the national steering committee for key railway projects, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính urged all ministries and localities to take proactive, decisive action to accelerate railway development—an identified national strategic breakthrough. With Việt Nam targeting 8% annual GDP growth, PM Chính emphasized rail transport’s critical role along north-south and east-west economic corridors and in urban mobility for Hà Nội and HCM City. The Government plans to begin construction on the North-South high-speed rail and the Lào Cai–Hà Nội–Hải Phòng line, integrate railway networks with economic hubs, and fast-track urban metro systems. Following National Assembly approval of the amended Railway Law and key resolutions, ministries have so far completed 23 of 48 assigned tasks. Key progress includes draft decrees on forest use, science and technology in rail, and industrial railway goods.
