Kazakhstan and China sign strategic Rrail agreement to boost Trans-Caspian Transport RouteKazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), Kazakhstan’s national railway operator, and China State Railway Group have signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement aimed at developing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), KTZ announced Tuesday.The agreement was signed during a meeting between KTZ Chairman Talgat Aldybergenov and his Chinese counterpart, Guo Zhuxue, in Almaty. "The deal focuses on enhancing Eurasian rail connectivity, including infrastructure upgrades and joint investments in railway modernization, logistics hubs, and multimodal terminals," KTZ said.Key priorities include expanding container shipments and implementing digital solutions to streamline cross-border rail operations. KTZ said the partnership would accelerate cargo flows along the China-Europe corridor while reinforcing Kazakhstan’s role as a pivotal transit hub.“This agreement aligns with our strategic goals and will significantly boost traffic along the China-Europe route,” KTZ said in a statement. “It strengthens Kazakhstan’s position as a key Eurasian logistics link and increases the TITR’s competitiveness.”The state-controlled KTZ oversees Kazakhstan’s rail, port, and airport infrastructure, along with freight logistics centers.
