Construction of new GPP in Zhanaozen on schedule, equipment installation to be completed by end of 2026Construction of the new gas processing plant (GPP) in Zhanaozen (Mangystau region) is proceeding according to plan, with equipment installation scheduled for completion by the end of 2026, the national company KazMunayGas (KMG) reported."Project progress, including design, procurement, equipment and materials supply, and construction and installation works, stands at 7.1%, which aligns with planned targets. (...) Fabrication of modular block units for the process equipment is underway. According to the approved schedule, equipment installation is planned for completion by the end of 2026," stated KMG's release following an on-site meeting.The work is being carried out in phases across two startup complexes. At Startup Complex No. 1, the foundation base for the modular building is prepared, trenches for external oily water sewer networks are dug, the power supply system for temporary buildings is installed, and work is ongoing to install truck scales and surface the temporary warehouse yard."For Startup Complex No. 2, work includes site leveling, topsoil removal, embankment compaction, and the delivery of quarry soil to bring the elevation to the design level," the release specified.Meanwhile, design documentation for the main process chain facilities, general plant infrastructure, and administrative/utility buildings is being developed. Over 60% of the 3D modeling for the future plant has been completed.As previously reported, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev called the delayed construction of the GPP in Zhanaozen a major oversight by the government."Earlier, I instructed that the gas processing plant in Zhanaozen be launched by 2024. However, due to protracted procedures, the contract with the contractor was only signed last year, and the commissioning has been postponed to 2027. This is a major oversight on the part of the government," the head of state said at the time.Construction work on the Zhanaozen GPP began in November 2023.
