INDONESIA EXPANDS EXPORTS AMID U.S. 32% TARIFF MOVE

Indonesia is intensifying efforts to expand its export markets in response to the United States’ decision to impose a 32% import tariff on all Indonesian products starting August 1, 2025. Deputy Trade Minister Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri stated that this move aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to strengthen Indonesia’s global trade position. As part of this strategy, Indonesia is pursuing comprehensive economic partnership agreements (CEPAs) with Peru, Canada, and Tunisia to boost exports and diversify trade relationships. While the government awaits an official U.S. announcement, a negotiating team from the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs is currently in Washington, D.C., advocating for Indonesia’s trade interests. Minister Airlangga Hartarto is also expected to visit the U.S. after attending BRICS events in Brazil, in hopes of influencing the final decision. However, U.S. President Donald Trump has reaffirmed the tariff policy in a letter to President Prabowo, signaling no change despite ongoing negotiations.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/364853/indonesia-expands-exports-amid-us-32-pct-import-tariff-move?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_home (ICE GIACARTA)
