VN-INDEX BREACHES 1,400-POINT THRESHOLD

Vietnam’s stock market surged past the 1,400-point mark on Monday, buoyed by strong investor sentiment and high liquidity. The VN-Index rose 15.09 points (1.09%) to close at 1,402.06—the biggest daily gain in a month and its highest in over three years. Trading volume on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange reached VNĐ28.29 trillion (US$1.1 billion), with 224 gainers and 87 losers. The VN30-Index climbed 19.89 points (0.34%) to 1,508.66, with 27 of its 30 stocks advancing. Banking and securities shares led the rally, driven by hopes of a market status upgrade. SHB surged 7% on nearly 250 million shares traded, while CTG, BID, and VPB also posted strong gains. Securities firms like VIX, SSI, SHS, and VND rose at least 1.5%. Foreign investors were net buyers, with purchases exceeding VNĐ1.23 trillion on HoSE. Analysts forecast the VN-Index could reach 1,555–1,663 in 2025, with EPS growth of 12% and potential foreign inflows of $1.3–1.5 billion. (ICE HO CHI MINH CITY)
