PRODUCTION PROJECTED TO REBOUND IN Q3

Nearly 80% of Vietnam’s manufacturing and processing enterprises anticipate stable or improved business conditions in Q3, according to a business sentiment survey by the National Statistics Office (NSO). Specifically, 37.3% expect improvements, while 43.5% foresee steady operations. Optimism is highest among foreign-invested firms (81%), followed by State-owned (79.8%) and private domestic businesses (80.7%). In Hồ Chí Minh City, 75.5% of surveyed businesses reported steady or improved Q2 performance, and 41.8% expect stability in Q3. Industrial performance remains strong, with the Q2 Industrial Production Index rising 10.3% year-on-year, driven by a 12.3% increase in manufacturing and processing. Overall, the sector’s added value grew 8.1% in H1 2025, contributing 2.6 percentage points to the 7.5% GDP growth—the highest H1 rate since 2011. Despite positive output and confidence trends, Vietnam’s June Manufacturing PMI fell to 48.9, remaining in contraction territory for the third month due to weak global demand, according to S&P Global.
