VIỆT NAM PRESENTS FIVE PROPOSALS TO PROTECT ENVIRONMENT, GLOBAL HEALTH AT BRICS
At the BRICS Summit 2025 in Rio de Janeiro, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính of Vietnam presented five strategic proposals on environmental protection and global health, emphasizing collective responsibility, equitable resource allocation, climate finance, technological innovation, and global governance reform. Supporting Brazil’s summit priorities, the PM called for stronger international collaboration and reaffirmed Vietnam’s net-zero commitment by 2050. He urged developed countries to uphold their pledges on financing and technology transfer and stressed that climate action and public health must be central to national policies. The session concluded the expanded BRICS Summit, where leaders warned of setbacks in achieving the UN’s SDGs and highlighted the need for inclusive global cooperation. Vietnam’s proactive participation underscored its commitment to responsible development and global integration. Brazilian President Lula da Silva reinforced the urgency of just energy transitions and climate justice.
