INVESTMENT IN THE FOOD AND BEVERAGE INDUSTRY REACHED IDR 22.63 TRILLION IN Q1

The Deputy Minister of Industry, Faisol Riza, announced that investment in Indonesia's food and beverage (F&B) industry reached IDR 22.63 trillion in the first quarter of 2025, comprising IDR 9.03 trillion in foreign investment and IDR 13.6 trillion in domestic investment. This signifies strong investor confidence in the sector. The F&B industry is a significant contributor to the Indonesian economy, maintaining an $8.67 billion trade surplus with exports valued at $11.78 billion from January to February 2025. In the first quarter of 2025, the sector contributed 41.15% to non-oil and gas industrial GDP and 7.2% to national GDP, while experiencing 6.04% year-on-year growth. Indonesia holds a comparative advantage in F&B due to its diverse biological resources, which are transformed into high value-added, export-oriented products. Key sub-sectors showing strong performance in 2024 include:Cocoa/chocolate processing: Indonesia is the 4th largest producer of processed cocoa globally, with exports exceeding $2.4 billion (304,000 tons).Tea processing: Exports reached 36,738 tons or $59.24 million.Fruit processing: Exports totaled 402 million tons or $510 million.Coffee industry: Exports of processed coffee amounted to 196,875 tons valued at $661.9 million.Milk processing: Export value was $233.5 million, an increase from $230 million in 2023.
