Food Corporation pays 17.3 bln tenge under grain forward contractsFood Contract Corporation JSC has paid 17.3 billion tenge to farmers under forward contracts for grain purchase, the company said in a press release.Under these contracts, farmers are expected to supply 335,000 tonnes of grain and oilseeds for Food Corporation’s reserves this autumn, according to the press release.As of July 3, contracts had been signed for the supply of 241,500 tonnes of hard and soft wheat and 54,200 tonnes of barley. Compared to the previous year, oilseed procurement doubled to make 38,900 tonnes, including 18,000 tonnes of sunflower seeds, 18,800 tonnes of flax, and 2,100 tonnes of rapeseed.A total of 194 agricultural enterprises have received financing under forward contracts this year.The Ministry of Agriculture reported earlier that Food Corporation expected to receive 368,000 tonnes of grain this autumn under forward contracts.Food Contract Corporation JSC, created in 1995, is the operator for grain purchase for the government reserves. The company had been owned by National Holding KazAgro until June 2020 when its ownership was transferred to the government (the Ministry of Agriculture). (ICE ALMATY)
