ELECTION BAN SLOWS APRIL INFRA SPENDING
ELECTION spending bans slowed some agencies’ projects, cutting April infrastructure and capital outlays to P85.8 billion based on data from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM). Infrastructure expenditures were markedly lower than the P118.9 billion recorded a year earlier and the previous month’s P113.5 billion. The decline was mainly due to reduced infrastructure spending by the Department of Public Works and Highways, which was covered by the election-related ban on public spending for certain activities, goods and services. Lower contractor billings also contributed, the DBM said, with infrastructure work having been frontloaded in the months ahead of the spending ban. https://www.manilatimes.net/2025/07/02/business/top-business/election-ban-slows-april-infra-spending/2141947 (ICE SINGAPORE)
