Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan establish JV for “green” energy corridor projectAzerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on Tuesday signed an agreement to establish a joint venture, Yasil Dehliz Birliyi (Green Corridor Union), to implement the Central Asia-Azerbaijan Green Energy Corridor Project.The signing ceremony took place in Baku, Azerbaijan’s Energy Ministry reported.The document was signed by AzerEnergy JSC, Kazakhstan’s Electric Power Grid Operating Company (KEGOC) and National Power Grid of Uzbekistan (NPGU).The parties approved the JV’s charter and agreed to appoint Farhad Mammadov as the head (general director) of the new company, which will operate in Baku.The JV will oversee feasibility studies for the Central Asia-Azerbaijan Energy Corridor Project, aimed at exporting “green” power to Europe via Azerbaijan.On November 13, 2024, the governments of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan signed a strategic partnership agreement on “green” energy generation and transportation. On the same day, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia inked an implementation program for “green” energy development.On December 27, 2024, AzerEnergy, KEGOC and NPGU signed the founding agreement for the creation of a joint venture in Baku for the Central Asia-Azerbaijan Energy Corridor Project.On April 4, 2025, the energy ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey and Bulgaria concluded a “green” energy cooperation memorandum, marking the official launch of the project.
