INDONESIA SHIPS FIRST SUSTAINABLE, SOCIAL FORESTRY COFFEE
Indonesia has marked a milestone in its social forestry initiative with the first export of eight tons of coffee from the West Sumatra Social Forestry Business Group (KUPS) to Dubai. The shipment, launched by Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni and Commission IV Chair Titiek Soeharto, reflects President Prabowo Subianto’s vision of combining community welfare with sustainable forest management. The KUPS has adopted blockchain-based traceability systems aligned with EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) standards, enabling transparent tracking of coffee origin and pricing. The initiative also received strong legislative backing, with Titiek Soeharto advocating for subsidized fertilizer support for forest farmers. In addition to the export, the government disbursed Rp3.07 billion in small grants and issued 17 legal documents to KUPS enterprises. Officials hope this success will inspire broader regional participation and help establish product clusters that enhance both economic resilience and environmental stewardship.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/361021/indonesia-ships-first-sustainable-social-forestry-coffee-to-dubai?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_category (ICE GIACARTA)
