MORE EXPRESSWAY SECTIONS TO BE OPENED TO TRAFFIC BY AUGUST 19
By August 19, six major expressway sections in Vietnam will be partially or fully opened, according to the Ministry of Construction. These include segments of the Vung Ang-Bung, Van Ninh-Cam Lo, Van Phong-Nha Trang, Quang Ngai-Hoai Nhon, Hoai Nhon-Quy Nhon, Quy Nhon-Chi Thanh, and Hoa Lien-Tuy Loan expressways. Currently, Vietnam has 2,268 kilometers of expressway in use, with 25 projects totaling 941 kilometers underway—14 of which are managed by the ministry. However, several projects face delays. The early rainy season in May 2025 has slowed construction on HCMC’s Beltway No. 3, threatening the national goal of reaching 3,000 kilometers of expressway. Similarly, the An Huu-Cao Lanh section in Dong Thap Province, though 64% complete, is delayed due to ongoing ground settlement. It is now expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2026. These delays highlight the challenges in meeting Vietnam’s infrastructure targets. (ICE HO CHI MINH CITY)
