INDONESIA AND EAEU FINALIZE FREE TRADE DEAL, SIGNING SET FOR DECEMBER
Indonesia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU)—comprising Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan—have officially concluded negotiations on a free trade agreement (FTA), with the signing scheduled for December 2025 during the EAEU Summit. The announcement was made following a bilateral meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto confirmed that all negotiation materials have been finalized, marking a significant milestone in Indonesia’s economic diplomacy. The agreement is expected to eliminate trade barriers and enhance cooperation in sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, mining, and agriculture. The FTA opens new export opportunities for Indonesia, particularly for key commodities like crude palm oil, coffee, natural rubber, copra, and cocoa butter. In return, Indonesia anticipates increased imports of strategic goods from the EAEU, including wheat, phosphate, coal, and semi-finished iron. With a combined market of over 460 million people, the deal is projected to boost trade and investment flows between the two regions. In the first quarter of 2025 alone, bilateral trade reached USD 1.57 billion—an 84.63% increase from the previous year—while EAEU investment in Indonesia hit USD 273.7 million in 2024Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/360817/indonesia-eaeu-free-trade-deal-set-to-be-signed-in-december-2025?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=desktop&utm_campaign=top_news, https://en.antaranews.com/news/360809/indonesia-eurasian-economic-union-wrap-up-free-trade-talks?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_category (ICE GIACARTA)
