KAZAKHSTAN-GRAIN-RAIL-SHIPMENTS
Kazakhstan’s grain exports by rail surged by 60% in Jan-MayThe volume of Kazakh grain transported by rail via the Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) network in January-May 2025 reached 5.7 million tonnes, marking a 54% increase compared to the same period last year, the KTZ press service reports.Export shipments amounted to 4.5 million tonnes, rising by 62%. Of this, 2.2 million tonnes of grain were shipped to Central Asian countries – a 28% increase over the previous year.Shipments of grain via the ports of Aktau and Kuryk towards Iran surged 12-fold. Shipments via Black Sea ports grew by 20%, and via Baltic ports by 16%.As previously reported, Kazakhstan harvested a record 26 million tonnes of grain in 2024. The country's Ministry of Trade estimated Kazakhstan's export potential for grain crops at 12 million tonnes. As of June 18, 8.7 million tonnes of grain from the 2024 harvest (September 2024 - June 18, 2025) had been exported. (ICE ALMATY)
