KAZAKHSTAN-GRAIN-MARKET-SITUATION
Kazakhstan has enough grain in stock for domestic needs and exports - Agriculture MinistryKazakhstan’s reserves of grain currently stand at 8.6 million tonnes, which suffices for meeting domestic demand and for exports, the country’s Ministry of Agriculture said Friday.The republic’s reserves include 7.4 million tonnes of wheat, of which 2.7 million tonnes belong to businesses, 2.6 million tonnes are stored in elevators, 818,000 tonnes are held by flour and cereal producers, and 167,000 tonnes are in the warehouses of wholesale traders.Food Corporation, the national grain operator, has 1.2 million tonnes of grain in stock, including one million tonne of food-grade grain.The Agriculture Ministry said that the existing stock is enough to ensure food security in the republic and to support its export capacity.In 2024, Kazakhstan harvested a record 26 million tonnes of grain. The Ministry of Trade previously estimated the country’s grain export potential at 12 million tonnes. As at June 18, as much as 8.7 million tonnes had been exported. (ICE ALMATY)
