Kazakhstan’s construction sector grows 15.4% in first five months of 2025Kazakhstan’s construction sector saw a 15.4% year-on-year increase in the volume of construction works and services in January-May 2025, reaching 2 trillion tenge, according to the Bureau of National Statistics under the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms.Construction and installation works rose by 15.1% to 1.725 trillion tenge during the reporting period. Major renovations grew by 12.3%, while current repairs surged by 23%.A total of 13,138 buildings were completed, including 12,013 residential and 1,125 non-residential structures. Investments in housing construction totaled 1.176 trillion tenge, accounting for 19.8% of total fixed capital investments. The primary funding source for housing projects was developers’ own funds, representing 90.4% of financing.The total area of newly commissioned residential buildings expanded by 5.7%, reaching 6.021 million square meters. Meanwhile, the average cost of constructing one square meter of housing increased by 12.9%.Kazakhstan’s population stands at over 20 million. (ICE ALMATY)
