The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a Rs 700 crore Electric Vehicle (EV) Park near Bhimsen in Kanpur under the Kanpur Metropolitan Development Vision – 2030. To be developed by the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) over 500 acres along the Dedicated Freight Corridor, the project aims to establish Kanpur as a major EV manufacturing hub.Executed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, the park will strengthen the local EV supply chain and boost indigenous manufacturing. The facility will host manufacturing units for electric motors, chassis, lithium-ion cells, steel parts, and key EV components including chargers, controllers, and electronic systems. A dedicated research and development (R&D) centre will drive innovation and support next-generation product development.An integrated EV components cluster for SMEs will be developed to empower local entrepreneurs and generate substantial employment. Its strategic location along the DFC, with strong rail and road connectivity, enhances logistics efficiency.
