FIRST INVESTMENTS OF "BLUE MEDITERRANEAN PARTNERSHIP FUND" LAUNCHED IN JORDAN, M

The Union for the Mediterranean has announced the launch of the first investments under the Mediterranean Blue Partnership Fund in Jordan, Morocco, and Egypt—marking an unprecedented step toward advancing a sustainable blue economy in the region. The announcement was made during a high-level dialogue session titled "Charting the Path to a Sustainable Blue Economy: The Mediterranean Leads the Way", held as part of Mediterranean Day events alongside the third session of the UN Ocean Conference in Nice, France. Among the selected initiatives, the Ayla Oasis Restoration Project in Jordan’s Gulf of Aqaba was chosen as one of three flagship models for funding. The project aims to restore coral reef ecosystems and implement a thermal energy storage system. It is expected to increase coral cover by 240% and reduce electricity consumption by over 1.2 million kilowatt-hours annually through the use of the new thermal energy system. (ICE AMMAN)
