Zhetysu container terminal with capacity of 115,000 TEU per year opens in AlmatyThe Zhetysu container terminal with a capacity of 115,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units) per year has opened in Almaty, the press service of Kedentransservice JSC reported.The logistics hub was built by Kedentransservice and China's Xi'an Free Trade Port Construction and Operation companies."Located at the intersection of major transport routes, the terminal with a design capacity of 115,000 TEU per year will become a strategic center for consolidating cargo flows and Kazakhstan's largest import hub. The terminal will enhance transport connectivity and reduce logistics costs," the press release said.The new terminal will handle and distribute cargo arriving from China.It was noted that on the opening day, the first container train sent from the Kazakh-Chinese cargo terminal in Xi'an (China) arrived at the terminal.The terminal's total area is 9.8 hectares. The container yard covers 9,200 square meters and can simultaneously store up to 1,101 TEU. Warehouse space reaches 23,400 square meters, and the commercial vehicle parking area is 8,900 square meters.Kedentransservice JSC is a subsidiary of the national railway carrier Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), the largest operator of logistics terminals in Kazakhstan, and handles container transportation along various routes.
