INDONESIA TARGETS 2025 COMPLETION OF EU AND EURASIAN TRADE AGREEMENTS
Indonesia aims to finalize two key trade agreements—the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (I-EU CEPA) and the Indonesia-Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Area (I-EAEU FTA)—by 2025, according to the Indonesia's Trade Minister, Budi Santoso. These agreements are expected to significantly expand market access for Indonesian exports across Europe and Eurasia, particularly in sectors like palm oil, agriculture, textiles, electronics, and fishery products. The next round of I-EU CEPA talks is set for July 2024 in Bogor, while I-EAEU FTA negotiations continue following the most recent round in Armenia. Santoso emphasized that the agreements will enhance Indonesia's global competitiveness, support export diversification, and help offset impacts from U.S. tariff policies. In addition to lowering tariff and non-tariff barriers, both deals are designed to be comprehensive and inclusive—covering not only trade but also investment, MSMEs, and sustainability—offering long-term benefits to Indonesian businesses and the broader economy.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/358641/indonesia-targets-2025-deal-on-eu-and-eurasian-trade-agreements (ICE GIACARTA)
