INDONESIA REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO MULTILATERAL TRADE AT WTO

During a meeting with WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala in Paris, Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, reaffirmed the country’s strong support for the multilateral trading system. He highlighted the WTO’s vital role in maintaining a rules-based global trade framework and discussed national priorities in agriculture, fisheries, and electronic trade. Indonesia, a WTO member since 1994, has significantly benefited from principles like National Treatment, Most Favored Nation (MFN), and Special and Differential Treatment (SDT), which have supported its international trade growth. In addition to the WTO discussions, Hartarto participated in an informal WTO ministerial gathering focused on reform efforts. He is in Paris to attend the 2025 OECD Ministerial Council Meeting, where he is set to formally submit Indonesia’s Initial Memorandum (IM)—a critical step in its OECD accession process. The IM outlines the compatibility of Indonesia’s policies with 240 OECD legal instruments across 32 chapters.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/357817/indonesia-reaffirms-commitment-to-multilateral-trade-at-wto (ICE GIACARTA)
