INDONESIA FINALIZES INITIAL MEMORANDUM FOR OECD ACCESSION

The Indonesian government has completed the Initial Memorandum (IM) for its accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto will officially submit to OECD Secretary-General Matthias Cormann in Paris. The IM, finalized within a year of receiving the Accession Roadmap in 2024, assesses Indonesia’s alignment with OECD norms across 32 chapters and 240 legal instruments, involving 64 ministries and institutions. This marks a major step in Indonesia’s commitment to joining the OECD and strengthening its global economic integration. During his visit to Paris from June 2–5, 2025, Hartarto will attend OECD ministerial meetings, engage in bilateral discussions with several partner countries and international organizations, and seek support for Indonesia's accession process. He will also participate in a WTO informal ministerial meeting and meet with Indonesian professionals working at the OECD Secretariat. The government views OECD membership as crucial for advancing trade negotiations with the US, CPTPP, and the EU.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/357573/indonesia-finalizes-initial-memorandum-for-oecd-accession?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_category (ICE GIACARTA)
