Kazakhstan reaffirms commitment to OPEC+ deal at meeting with Secretary-GeneralKazakh Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhanov met with OPEC Secretary-General Haitham Al Ghais in Astana, the Kazakh Energy Ministry’s press service reported."During the talks, the minister reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to the historic OPEC+ agreement and its readiness to continue joint efforts to ensure stability in the global oil market," according to the press release.Both sides praised the results of their cooperation and the agreements reached during the recent meeting of the "eight countries.""Kazakhstan expressed its willingness to further strengthen cooperation with OPEC and member states of the agreement, emphasizing its commitment to enhancing market stability in the interests of producers, consumers, and the global economy as a whole," the ministry stated.In late May, Kazakh Deputy Energy Minister Alibek Zhamaubayev said Kazakhstan would not cut oil production and had notified OPEC accordingly.On Saturday, May 31, eight OPEC+ countries (Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, the UAE, Algeria, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, and Oman), which had previously reduced output by 2.2 million barrels per day, agreed to increase production quotas by 411,000 barrels per day starting in July.
