GREENER BUILDING MATERIALS ENTER THE VIETNAMESE MARKET

Vietnam’s green building movement is accelerating, driving up demand for sustainable construction materials. Leading the trend, CADIVI recently launched eco-friendly electrical cables certified by the Singapore Green Building Council. The company, part of Gelex Group, is investing in clean technology, energy-efficient production, and waste reduction. Gelex is allocating 2% of revenue to R&D and digital transformation, with group-wide adoption of solar power and raw material optimisation. The cement sector is also responding, with SCG and Fico Tay Ninh introducing low-emission cement alternatives. Meanwhile, PPG Vietnam is expanding its range of water-based and UV coatings, aiming for half of its revenue to come from environmentally advantageous products by 2030. Although green materials reduce emissions and operating costs, their higher upfront prices remain a barrier. However, supportive laws and government incentives are boosting adoption. Vietnam now has over 560 certified green buildings, far surpassing its 2025 target, and contributing to its net-zero goals for 2050. (ICE HO CHI MINH CITY)
