ADANI DEFENCE, SPARTON PARTNER TO BRING INDIGENOUS ANTI-SUBMARINE TECH TO INDIA
Adani Defence & Aerospace has signed a binding collaboration agreement with Sparton (DeLeon Springs LLC), a group company of Elbit Systems and a global leader in advanced anti-submarine warfare (ASW) systems, the company announced on May 18. According to a statement quoted by ANI, the partnership marks a major step in localising the assembly of complex electronic systems and cutting-edge ASW solutions for both Indian and global markets. With this collaboration, Adani Defence becomes the first private Indian firm to offer indigenised sonobuoy solutions—mission-critical platforms used to detect, locate, and track submarines and underwater threats, thereby enhancing Undersea Domain Awareness (UDA).Sonobuoys play a crucial role in anti-submarine warfare and naval security operations, supporting the protection of carrier strike groups and other maritime assets. Until now, India has largely relied on imports for these vital systems. Aligned with the Indian government’s 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' and 'Make in India' initiatives, the partnership is expected to reduce dependency on foreign original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and strengthen India’s defence manufacturing capabilities.
