VIETJET PLACES ORDER FOR 20 AIRBUS PLANES TO FUEL FUTURE EXPANSION
Vietnamese low-cost airline Vietjet has signed a landmark deal to purchase 20 Airbus A330-900 widebody aircraft, enhancing its fleet for long-term international growth. The agreement was signed in Hà Nội in the presence of Vietnamese President Lương Cường and French President Emmanuel Macron, highlighting the strategic importance of the partnership. The new aircraft will support Vietjet’s expansion across the Asia-Pacific region and lay the foundation for long-haul routes to Europe. Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Phương Thảo emphasized the efficiency and sustainability of the A330neo, stating the airline’s commitment to expanding global connectivity and greener aviation. With this deal, Vietjet doubles its A330neo orders to 40, and maintains a separate order of 96 A320neo aircraft, reinforcing its ambitions to become a leading global carrier. Airbus International President Wouter van Wersch expressed pride in Vietjet’s trust in Airbus, reinforcing a strong and growing bilateral aviation relationship. (ICE HO CHI MINH CITY)
