INDONESIAN GOVT CLEARS 18 DOWNSTREAMING PROJECTS WORTH US$45 BILLION

Indonesia's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, announced 18 downstreaming projects worth nearly US$45 billion set to begin in June 2025. These projects span sectors including nickel, bauxite, coal gasification (DME), agriculture, fisheries, forestry, and will also support the national car battery ecosystem, notably involving a partnership with Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd (CATL), a Chinese company specializing in the production of lithium-ion batteries and Indonesian state-owned enterprises (SOEs). Financing will primarily come from Danantara, with a focus on keeping the projects domestically driven, in line with President Prabowo Subianto's "Red and White" directive. Following a limited meeting at the Presidential Palace, President Prabowo approved the projects, citing their potential to boost foreign exchange, reduce imports, and generate employment. Additionally, the government plans to offer 60 new oil and gas blocks for exploration from 2025 to 2027 to enhance domestic oil production.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/356405/govt-clears-18-downstreaming-projects-worth-us45-bln?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_category (ICE GIACARTA)
